Politicization of Global Warming

Appetizer

Politics, not science, explains much of the hype and controversy over global warming.

The global warming issue and the proposed solutions to global warming neatly dovetail with many special political interests, like Europe's competitive interest in slowing America's economy and environmental activists' interests in alternative fuels and energy conservation. Interest groups that benefit from proposed solutions to global warming push to sway public opinion to their side. Meanwhile, businesses, groups, and individuals who fear proposed solutions will negatively alter their status quo spend millions to push back. Some scientists, climate and other, are caught in the middle while other scientists have picked a side in the fight. Both sides of the debate then claim that the science has been politicized.
